Mountain Song - Feature Show
The whole month of December I will be featured artist at Viewpoints Gallery in Los Altos. The show, "Mountain Song", will include new works highlighting the Sierras as seen from both the east face and the valleys of Yosemite. Paintings are of high mountain streams and fall foliage punctuated with golden aspens against clear blue skies.
"Montain Song" will feature my new oil paintings exploring the beauty of the high Sierras. The dynamic natural world made famous by John Muir and Albert Bierstade has inspired countless artist for generations.
Regular trips to Yosemite and the Sierras have provided me with endless inspiration. Especially autumn brings a feast for the artist's eye. The golden glow of the sun, lower in the sky, highlights everything it touches with rich fall tones. The brilliant cerulean skies create stunning cool shadows on the granite rock in contrast to the warm surfaces facing the sun. I am especially inspired by the golden meadows of dry grasses with the lavender mountains and blue canyon walls contrasted behind. The clear skies provide dramatic light and shadows helping me to create powerful impressionistic paintings.
